“Chronic sinus conditions are miserable. That's why I'm focused on new ideas and methods that can improve quality of life.”
-Dr. Ford D. Albritton
A pioneer in the treatment of sinus conditions.
Dr. Ford D. Albritton IV, MD, FACS
Otolaryngology/Ear, Nose, Throat
A pioneer in the treatment of sinus conditions.
Dr. Ford Albritton is an expert in many areas within the ENT field, including:
Sinus & Rhinology
Minimally Invasive Sinus and Septal Surgery
Balloon Sinuplasty
Dr. Ford Albritton had his homecoming back to Dallas in 2001 to rejoin his family and begin his ENT practice with a subspecialty in problems of the nose and sinuses. He grew up in Dallas and completed Highland Park Highschool in 1988.
Dr. Albritton attended Texas A&M University in College Station and within a few years was admitted to medical school “early” through a prestigious program offered by two Texas medical universities (Texas A&M College of Medicine and University of Texas Medical Branch). This jumpstarted his education by allowing his admission prior to graduating college. After his second year in medical school, he obtained his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in Basic Medical Science with a minor in English through this “combined program”.
During his four years in medical school, Dr Albritton earned several accolades. He was a recipient of an NIH research scholarship between his first and second years in medical school. He would eventually merit acceptance into the elite Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society (the Phi Beta Kappa of medical school) and was one of only two students elected in their Junior year. He was presented other awards including the Bard Parker Award for outstanding student in surgery, the Outstanding Student in Otolaryngology Award, and was elected to give the “Response for the Class” speech at his class graduation ceremony. He graduated With Honors, finishing ranked 3rd in his class.
Dr. Albritton completed his surgical specialty residency in Otolaryngolgy-Head and Neck Surgery (ENT) at the prestigious Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in 2001. He worked under noted sinus specialists Dr. John DelGaudio and Dr. Todd Kingdom in addition to department chairman, Dr. Douglas Mattox—a pioneer in endoscopic sinus surgery. There he authored research and was promoted to Chief Resident 6 months early.
He was Board Certified in 2002 by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He has also been elected as Fellow in the American College of Surgeons as well as Fellow in the American Rhinologic Society. He maintains active board certification through the recertification process.
He is the author of numerous scientific articles and has presented at academic meetings domestic and overseas. Dr. Albritton is one of the nation’s most experienced surgeons with sinus surgery and was a pioneer in “balloon sinuplasty”. Albritton has given many lectures on the topic and consulted on the design of new medical devices. He was lead author of the preeminent publication regarding awake in-office balloon sinus procedures and has trained numerous physicians in the region and beyond. In fact, many of Dallas’ best ENT doctors were tutored by Dr. Albritton in the use of balloon sinus instruments and techniques. In fact, his innovations are captured in several patents for medical instruments related to minimally invasive sinus surgery.
Outside of practice, Dr. Albritton has given time leadership roles in the local medical community. He served as Chairman of the Board for the Texas Institute for Surgery as well as serving as Chairman and Vice -Chairman for Department of Otolaryngology at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas. Dr. Albritton’s academic interests include molecular and inflammatory pathways in sinusitis subtypes and cellular protection strategies, therapies, and techniques. He holds a patent for a nutraceutical (vitamin) for inner ear.
During his free time, Dr. Albritton enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, traveling, enjoying food, wine, cooking, cycling, cooking, and listening to music. He would like to be a better photographer, learn to paint, and play good golf. Pickleball has gained some interest to him. A man of many interests, he even once helped manage an independent record label, Misra Records.
He’s driven by his passion to deliver the most successful outcomes in a safe and caring way NOT in an assembly line manner.
His education includes:
B.S.; Texas A&M University; Cum Laude (through early admittance combined BA/MD program at A&M)
M.D.; Texas A&M University College of Medicine; With Honors (graduated 3rd in his class)
Internship and Residency; Emory University School of Medicine --He served as Chief Resident 6 months early (from 1999- 2001)
He has served as Board Chairman for the Texas Institute for Surgery as well as serving as Chairman of Otolaryngology at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas. He currently serves as Vice-Chairman for Texas Health Dallas.
He is board certified in Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. A Dallas native, he has been recognized by D Magazine as one of the Best ENT doctors in Dallas every year from 2006 through 2016.
Specifically within the sinus and rhinology fields, Dr. Albritton’s professional interests include molecular and inflammatory pathways in sinusitis subtypes and cellular protection strategies, therapies and techniques.
During his free time, Dr. Albritton enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, traveling, cycling, painting, cooking, and listening to music. A man of many interests, he even helps manage an independent record label, Misra Records.
